New Delhi: An Army personnel sustained injuries during a confrontation with an intruder at the Nagrota Military Station in Jammu, prompting the initiation of a search operation for the suspect, as reported by the White Knight Corps.
The incident unfolded when an alert sentry detected suspicious activity near the station's perimeter and issued a challenge, resulting in a brief exchange of gunfire. Fortunately, the sentry only suffered minor injuries. Search efforts are currently in progress to locate the intruder(s).
This event coincided with drone attacks and artillery shelling from Pakistan in various regions along the Line of Control and International Border, including Nagrota.
The escalation occurred just hours after both nations had reached an agreement to halt hostilities.
In the meantime, a complete power outage has been reported in several Punjab areas, including Pathankot, Ludhiana, Moga, Ferozepur, and Jalandhar, on Saturday evening.
India has accused Pakistan of breaching the agreement made between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries earlier that evening regarding the cessation of firing and military actions, asserting that the Indian Army is responding to these border intrusions.
During a special briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri emphasized that these actions represent a serious violation of the earlier agreement and that India is taking these breaches very seriously.
India has urged Pakistan to take necessary measures to rectify these violations and to approach the situation with the seriousness it warrants.
Misri stated that the Indian Armed Forces have been instructed to respond decisively to any further violations along both the International Border and the Line of Control.
He noted, "In recent hours, there have been multiple breaches of the understanding reached earlier today between the military operations directors of India and Pakistan. This is a clear violation of the agreement made earlier. Our armed forces are providing an adequate response to these violations, and we are taking these breaches very seriously."
He reiterated the call for Pakistan to act responsibly and address these violations, assuring that the armed forces are maintaining vigilant oversight of the situation.
India had previously launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 in response to a devastating terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals.
In retaliation, India targeted nine terror sites located in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
In response, Pakistan has escalated tensions through a series of unprovoked attacks utilizing artillery and drones.
